Product Review: By Terry Hyaluronic Face Glow

Everyone knows that I’m an oily girl. So any product that seeks to add ‘more’ moisture to my skin is normally a pass. So you can imagine that I was not too eager to try By Terry’s new Hyaluronic Face Glow.

It’s hailed as an ‘alternative’ to foundation… by creating the illusion of ‘perfect’ bare skin. It’s supposed to correct the skin tone, smooth out lines and wrinkles, and leave the skin ‘plumped’ with whipped hyaluronic molecules. It can also be used as a foundation primer…

I have no idea how you ‘whip’ hyaluronic molecules, but I was curious enough to give it a shot:

It’s a pretty decent size tube… especially for the amount of product you need. I used a pin-head size amount for this swatch, and have since been using triple that (think: three pin heads) for my entire face. Not much product at all.

The first thing I noticed is that it’s ‘cool’ to the touch. As you blend it in, it cools the skin and actually PLUMPS it! That was something to see. I popped it around my eyes to make sure, and sure enough, it plumped the skin right up. It seems to act as a moisturizer, without the sheen or residue associated with heavier moisturizers. It left my skin dewy, but not greasy (which is huge in my book). And the finish is soft and ‘luminous’… so I wouldn’t say this was an illumizer per se (there’s not that much in the way of a ‘glow’). It’s just more of a really subtle light diffuser. The coverage is VERY sheer… so this is not for folks who want a bit of cover. Or, you can use it with a color corrector on the ‘problem areas’ to give the illusion of bare skin.

By Terry Hyaluronic Face Glow comes in three shades: Nude Glow, Fair Glow and Warm Glow. I’m using the Warm Glow in this review.

I like it. I think it’s what Peau Vierge is supposed to be, but this one FEELS better on my skin. I can’t vouch for any skin care claims (I haven’t seen any difference… but it’s only been a couple of days), but I can say that I definitely prefer this to Peau Vierge (sorry Le Metier de Beaute) in terms of feel and performance. Plus, it’s cheaper. You can snag this baby for $65 – as opposed to $125 for Peau Vierge.

You can get By Terry Hyaluronic Face Glow from Space NK:

  1. Ava says:

I imagine the retinol and delivery system that LMdB Peau Vierge contains drives its price upward. by Terry Hyaluronic Face Glow sounds perfect for those who don't want or need the retinol treatment that Peau Vierge contains. Its transparency is plus too. LMdB should take note!

  2. I haven't seen any difference in my skin since using Peau Vierge, so I'm not sure about the skin care claims. Same for By Terry. I honestly can't say for certain that either product delivers on its 'skin care' claims. I really like the way By Terry feels though… that cooling sensation is a plus. And you're right, it sheers out totally transparent and there is no shimmery finish. Peau Vierge definitely looks shimmery on me.
