Flawless Finish: Kanebo Sensai Fluid Finish Lasting Velvet (Foundation)

Foundation Type: Liquid
Skin Type: Combination
Coverage: Medium

If ever there was the perfect hot weather matte foundation, this is it.

Foundation Type: Liquid
Skin Type: Normal to Dry
Coverage: Medium
Finish: Demi Matte

Kanebo Sensai Fluid Finish Lasting Velvet is completely weightless, but it blends very quickly and dries down to a beautiful matte finish. It reminds me of Armani Maestro Fusion (although not as thin), with a better color/undertone selection. While my color in Maestro Fusion (#10) is a bit too dark and flat ‘brown’ — this foundation accounts for my yellow undertones without going ashy on my warm skintone.

I’m shade #204.5 (Amber Beige)

This color ‘just’ matches my skin tone. If I get any darker this summer, I’ll  need a color boost from a bronzing gel or a foundation that is traditionally too dark for me. For the moment, it’s perfect. I have put it on completely oily skin, and it’s dried down to a lovely matte. It performs even better when the skin is perfectly primed for application (cleaned, then moisturized with an oil-free moisturizer).

The reason I call it a perfect Summer foundation is because it survived the 100+ degree temperatures that we’ve been sporting of late. I was surprised at how well it held up on my oily skin without curdling (yes, matte makeup tends to ‘curdle’ on my skin in hot weather), creasing, or just plain sliding off my face. I did need to blot a total of two times during 10 hours of wear, but otherwise it performed beautifully.
