Lip Service: Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss (Controversy)

Chanel released a tiny new collection (as they are apt to do, in an attempt to separate you from every single penny) in anticipation of the big Holiday Collection. The little bundle consists  primarily of lip colors, with a nail color thrown in for good measure.

I saw the collection recently, and decided that the only real standout was the Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Controversy.

The strong berry-purple color is part chic, part goth. I think it’s perfect for the Autumn/Winter season, and I love that you can manipulate the color with liners to bring out either a cool or warm result.

I feel like there’s just enough brown in there to keep it from going totally goth on me. This color translates well on my warm skin, and wears more like a deep rusted berry.

  1. I am in love with that lip gloss/stain! I wish that I owned more Chanel products, but there are just so expensive 😦 I’m really loving your blog here, by the way.

  2. Chanel can be on the pricey side… I agree! That’s why I’d be hard pressed to get an entire collection. Just not worth it for me. But if I find a thing (or two) in any given collection, then it’s not so bad. 😀

Shahada, have you tried the Chanel Rouge Coco lipsticks in Ce Soir and Caractere? I have been trying to find pictures of how they look on WOC with not much luck.

  4. Francesca I admit that I haven’t tried them. I’m not a fan of the Rouge Coco formula, so I am known to pass them by. Next time I visit the Chanel counter, I’ll swatch them for you though! There are a couple of lovely Chanel Ladies that are nice enough to let me play whenever I visit. 🙂
