Drink Up: Warm (Nut) Milk & Ginger

Although you can’t tell here in Southern California, Autumn is bringing cooler temperatures in many other parts of the country (and the world). Despite our 80 degree plus daytime weather, it’s been pretty chilly at night. To keep warm, I whipped up a ‘warmed milk’ drink… and it came out delicious!

-1 cup of Almonds or Cashews

-1 teaspoon of Almond or Cashew Oil

-3 Deglet Noor Dates

-1 cup filtered water

-1/2 teaspoon Wakaya Perfection Organic Ginger

-Sprinkle of Sea Salt

-Sprinkle of Cinnamon (optional)

In a Food Processor or blender, combine nuts and oil until blended into a smooth butter. Add dates and continue to blend. Add water slowly, until you reach desired ‘smoothie’ consistency (may have to add more or less water… it’s your choice). Add ginger and sprinkle salt to taste (the function of the salt is to ‘balance’ the flavor, so that it’s not flat and too sweet).

Warm the completed blend over a low heat until it’s nice and hot. Pour into a mug, sprinkle a little more ginger (or cinnamon) on top. Enjoy!

 

*Now, if you’re like my husband, then you require a little chocolate boost to make this drink perfect. So, skip the cinnamon… and instead blend a tablespoon of organic unsweetened cacao powder into the mix before you warm it up.* 😀
