Skin Care Routine…

… at least for the most part.

Those of you who’ve been with me for the duration of my time on the internet has seen my skin go from downright awful to perfectly clear. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’ve battled adult acne, hyper-pigmentation, and the occasional cystic eruption.

I took you on my journey with chemical peels last year, which really helped set the stage for the skin that I enjoy today. To maintain my skin, I use masks to keep it in top shape.

Yes, I use them all. Not everyday, but at least every few days, depending on my skin’s needs. I’ll cover the ones that I use most often on a weekly basis.

Philosophy Purity Mask

This is a 60 second mask. I’m not kidding. 60 seconds. You put it on, wait one minute and wash it off. It’s gentle enough to use every day. Initially I figured it was just like lathering a soap on my face, but the results are on par with using a standard clay mask that  you have to leave on for 10-20 minutes. I use it whenever I want to give my skin a quick boost before applying makeup.

Eminence Eight Greens Phyto Masque

If I have a little more time and I’m going out and really want to ‘glow’ — I use this one from Eminence. It is AMAZING. It actually has chili peppers in it, and the label warns that you might experience redness. I don’t. This mask plumps my skin up and gives me a glow like I just got a facial. This might be my second favorite mask of all the ones that I use.

Perricone MD Chloro Plasma Mask

This is another really good one. It’s supposed to be a youth inducing kind of masque, and I have to tell you I was all kinds of skeptical before I used it. I thought it was just a typical clay mask. It’s not. When you rinse this thing off (5-10 minutes), your skin is plump and like silk! OMG. I love the way my skin feels afterwards. But at $75 a pop, I’m going through it way too fast, so I tend to be very stingy with this mask. I don’t use it as often as I’d like to.

Koh Gen Do Oriental Plants Night Moisture Mask

This is hands down my favorite mask. I put it on before bed, and when I wake up in the morning my skin is ‘corrected.’ If I have a little pimple before I go to bed, it is GONE the next morning! If I have any discolorations, they are minimized by the next morning. This is my ultimate mask. I use such a little bit to spread all over my face (after my regular cleaning and moisturizing). It’s the final step before I crash for the night. I don’t know if I’m supposed to use it every day, so I don’t. But I definitely get it in 3-4 times a week. Love this stuff. This is also expensive ($90) but it lasts 3 times as long as Perricone. I’ve been using it steadily for weeks, and the tube is still nearly full. Meanwhile, my Perricone mask is nearly at the bottom, and I’ve had it for the same amount of time, and I only use it every 7-10 days. Value is everything.

That’s it! That’s how I maintain my skin (in addition to regular cleansing and moisturizing with Habibi products… c’mon do ya’ll REALLY want me to  hock my own skin care… again?). Ciao for now!
