I admit to initially being skeptical about this color. I’ve found that the new Amuse Bouche Lipsticks from Bite Beauty haven’t grabbed me like the Lab Series or the Matte Creme Lip Crayons (both of which I LOVE). These lipsticks smell and feel amazing (like citrus essential oil), but I’m just not overwhelmed by the colors. But the lovelies at Specktra insisted that I try Sake, so I decided to give it a whirl.
Here’s the thing: it’s not bad. The formula on these lipsticks is drier going on, but not so much that it pulls at the lips. The pigmentation is incredible, as is par for the course for Bite products. I think one of the things that throws me is the descriptions of the colors. To date, I have Sake (shown), Sweet Cream and Chai. None of the color names match the actual colors. As you can see, Sake is a dusty mauve. The actual ‘color’ of sake is completely different. Sweet Cream (which should have been named Sake), is more of a dark peach, and Chai (which I’d think of as nude brown… like actual chai with milk) reminds me of Nars’ Morrocco, which borders on terracotta.
I’m probably caught up in the names, hence my meh attitude about this line of lipsticks. This is probably it for me. I can’t see buying another one of these, regardless of pigmentation and wearability.
