7am: Yoga. For the first time in 10 years, I started my day for The Makeup Show with yoga. Normally, I wake up and spend too much time getting ready only to be there when the doors open. Not today. I compressed and released in a Hot Power Fusion class for an hour and decided not to think about anything but my own breath.
10am: FOTD. Those two raggedy pimples decided to show up as I peeled. But Jennifer warned me that whatever was near the surface (including pimples) would naturally rise during the peel. So there they are. No worries because they’re already drying up. I’m wearing Natura Bisse The Cure Sheer Cream as a base to tamper down the very end of the peel which just looks like a couple of flakes on my forehead. I set it with Kevyn Aucoin Matte Bronzer in Desert Day, and used NARS Laguna as a lower cheek blush. No highlight. No kidding. On the eyes is Tom Ford Cream Shadow in Sphinx (awful. don’t recommend) with the medium brown color from the Becca Rouge Ombre palette. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and Volume de Chanel Mascara. The lips are Dose of Colors Cork and Sand, respectively.
11am: Stuck in traffic. Might as well take another selfie. A 20 minute ride turned into an hour, since Google Maps decided to try and help me avoid construction and a motorcycle accident by sending me through Griffith Park TO A ROAD THAT WAS CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION. SMH. I ended up turning around and going my normal route and suffering through traffic. Good thing I wasn’t trying to make it before Noon. My goodness. But I got there fine and found a killer parking space (a rare thing in this congested town) and headed up to the 13th floor of the California Mart to see what was what:
I was mostly there for Natasha Denona, so I handled things quickly there (and somehow came up missing a body glow. Ugh. I think they forgot to pull it), I picked up a few show previews from NARS and MUFE, then I headed over to the main stage to see Kat Von D:
And that was about it. I said hi to some people I knew and made my way home. I still had a yoga class to teach, and I was feeling particularly empowered since Kat was like DO ALL THE THINGS! DON’T LET PEOPLE TRY TO LIMIT YOU! Hey Girl HEY. I hauled home, took off my makeup, changed my clothes and went to teach the yoga.
Then I came home to inspect my goodies:
I plan on using that Kat Von D primer as a brighter for a “no-makeup makeup.” Almost everything I got was focused on glow and skin perfection. Summer is coming and I don’t care to look ‘made up.’ I also picked up two big soft cases from MUFE to organize some of my makeup of late.
Swatches are coming. Ciao for now!
