FOTD: Spring

It’s about time to brighten things up…

Due to the annoying nature of my skin, I went full coverage for this one. The good news is, FOTD springit’s getting better fast. You guys know my skin reacts to everything in record time. But it also heals pretty fast. So all the ruddiness from the recent heat wave is subsiding, and a couple of pimples that decided to show their butts are diminishing as well.

Have any of you guys tried the powder sandwich trick? Basically, you layer translucent powder down first, then foundation, then more powder. For this look, it’s Innissfree, then Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup (which basically dries on contact), then more Innisfree. I used Ardere Concealers in 3 and 5 (really needed that peach correction) to hit the hot spots. Then went around the perimeter with a firm brush and Tom Ford Bronze Age.

The result is Instagram-flawless makeup. Not my favorite (so much just on the base), but it photographs beautifully.

Blush is Kiko Milano Soft Touch in #108 (0range-coral), with Charlotte Tilbury Norman Parkinson Highlighter on top.

Eyes are Natasha Denona Green-Brown Palette: Moonstone (shimmer) all over, Skin (shimmer) on the lids, and Shell (matte) to break up the two through the crease. By Terry Line Designer in Black Ink and Brown Glaze (stacked) on the lashline, and Armani Black Ecstasy Mascara.  Lips are Louboutin Lip Definer in Maya, and Smith & Cult The Tainted Lip Stain in Linger Sigh.

This method is REALLY beautiful on you! My skin is extremely dry so I think laying powder down first wuold be disasterous… but it’s worth me giving it a try at home to see if it could work. So glad your skin is getting better!

    • Thank you Michelle! You’re right, I don’t think it would work on dry skin. It’s a great method for a flawless finish that lasts all day. I prefer my actual skin to show through when it’s acting right. But this is a good tool to have in the old makeup arsenal.
