Whew I don’t feel so hot today. It’s only Tuesday and it’s been a long week people. I’ve been burning the candle at both ends so to speak, so I’m going to commit to a little ‘self care’ and practice what I continually preach to my students.
You guys know when I’m looking and feeling tired, the last thing I want to do is create some sort of ‘distinctive’ makeup look on this face. The brighter and more ‘washed over’ the color looks, the better. Helps to give me the illusion of looking a lot more bright-eyed and bushy-tailed than I actually feel.
Remember the Tom Ford trio ‘In The Pink?’ I dug it out during the Great Makeup Purge and discovered that I really don’t like it as much as I thought I did. For one thing, there’s almost no color payoff on my warm skin tone. The icy pink colors are sheer enough not to go ashy, but they don’t exactly look ‘pink’ on me at all. I think I remember that I liked the other trio (She Wolf) so much better.
The matte and shimmer colors are layered respectively, and then the ‘pop’ color (the one you use with fingers) is dabbed in the center of the lid. Honestly my eyelids just look shiny. But the good news is, I look awake. Sorta.
I used the Givenchy Blurring Foundation Balm (which acts so much like a full-coverage foundation that I’m trying to figure out why they have it in a tube pretending to be a bb cream) in Amber. Highlighted areas between the brows and under the eyes are with Ardere Concealer in #5 (I’m getting the hang of it. Thin layers people! Thin layers), and then powdered over with Inissfree. Blush is Shiseido Maquillage in Red (pink. smh), and Kevyn Aucoin highighter in Starlight.
The rest of the eyes is By Terry Liner (which is normally good but for my imprecise bullshit today), and Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara. I don’t know about this stuff. I’m going to need Charlotte to stop ly.. err… embellishing so damn much all the time. She’s waxing on about no clumping, and so what is this on my lashes today? It sure did clump at my roots, so yeah. Maybe it’s user error…
Lips are full on moisturized with all the Habibi Lip Therapy I could fit on them, and then a warm outline of Givenchy Lip Pencil in Brown. I had to set them up for success to use the NARS Lip Cover in Get Dirty. That is some ASHY ASS MESS, let me tell you (now you know why I haven’t swatched or talked about it). I don’t even know why this dense lip stuff is out for Summer because there is nothing breezy about it. It’s straight up Home for the Holidays (and want to impress an old flame) thick lip lacquer. Remember the Chanel ones that I cried about when they discontinued them? These remind me lot of those. Get Dirty is gorgeous on pale skin. Not so much on me… so I had to help it along with a warm line and a whole lot of moisture.
I kept the entire look simple because y’all I am too tired to be precise (look at that raggedy eyeliner), and this has to last through a meeting that’s guaranteed to go too long ’cause everyone and their cousin has to have a say. I’m gonna smile. I promise I am. Then after that, I’m laying in someone’s sauna. Yep.
